Part I is the lecture event of this 2-part series.  Part II is the hands-on part and sign-ups are separate.  There is limited space in those events and participants of Part I will be given preference.

Build A Better World with Allergen-Free Baking

July 13 @ 7:00 p.m. Would you like to know how to adapt your favorite baked recipes to accommodate almost any food need you and your family have? Learn the “secrets” to substituting ingredients in recipes to create desserts which not only are healthier for you but delicious tasting. Through her personal experience and her knowledge from cooking for family owned restaurants, Paula Castner has almost forty years of familiarity with food allergies and almost twenty years of experience with hypoglycemic and diabetic requirements.

Build A Better World With Ice Cream with Liz Roman!

Agawam, MA, June 29, 2017 at 6:30:   Liz Roman, avid ice cream fan and writer of Inside Scoop is back again this summer with more ice cream!  She will discuss how she rates ice cream based on flavor, texture and mix-ins, and allow the grown-ups to give it a try! The results may be part of her column in an upcoming edition of The Republican!  Liz is also a reporter for MassLive.Com and El Pueblo Latino.

Adult Summer Reading Program Begins with – READLocal 2017

Agawam, MA, June 26, 2017 from 6:30-8:30 pm:   Visit the Agawam Public Library to meet and greet 12 local authors, enjoy refreshments provided by Partner’s and sign up for Adult Summer Reading Program events! Books will be available for purchase and signing at this event.

The Basics of Tick-Borne Diseases presented by Sharon Hawkes, MLIS

Sharon Hawkes, director of the Nahant Public      Library and “Lymebrarian” will present a program on the basics of tick-borne diseases, which will include: what to watch for, prevention & treatment and how to find good information & support. Hawkes also is the director of The Lymebrary,, an online component to the STOP LYME Project.

Authors Needed for 6th Annual READLocal Event at the Agawam Library

Agawam, MA: The Agawam Public Library is looking for local authors that would like to participate in our 6th annual READLocal book signing event to be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 6:30-8:30.  READLocal will be the kick-off event to the Adult Summer Reading Program.

The event will be held in Community Room and each author will have their own table on which to set up a display, network with other authors, greet readers and sell books.  Throughout the event, each author will have a few minutes with a microphone to speak about their book.

Interested authors must have published a book for adults and not have previously participated in an author event at the Agawam Library.  Book summary and contact information should be sent to Wendy McAnanama at by May 13, 2017.   Space is limited to 11 authors.
